Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids for George L. Hanson, age 62, who passed away suddenly Thursday. Rev. Al Stangl will officiate and burial will be at Benton County Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the services Monday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids. Waite Park American Legion Post #428 will pray at 6:00 p.m., followed by Sauk Rapids VFW Post #6992 at 6:30 p.m., and a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. all Sunday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.

George was born June 19, 1950 in St. Cloud to George & Frances (Oehrlein) Hanson. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. George married Susan Anderson on July 8, 1971 in Sartell and they later divorced. He was an iron worker and managed work sites for New Mech in St. Paul, retiring in 2011. George was a member of Twin City Iron Workers Union Local #512, Waite Park American Legion Post #428, Sauk Rapids VFW Post #6992, and volunteered for Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, hunting, fishing, and spending summers at his lake place near Millerville, MN. One of his fondest memories was riding his Harley Davidson across the U.S. and Canada to Alaska with his friend Lyle. George was a kind, generous, hard working person with a great sense of humor. He had many friends and lived his life to the fullest.

Survivors include his daughter, Abbey (Alan) Husby of Cold Spring; former wife, Susan of Sartell; grandchildren, Amina and Devin; and sisters and brothers, Diane (Clifford) Popp of Foley, Yvonne (Tom) O'Brien of Oakdale, Dean (Barb) Hanson of Sauk Rapids, and Neal Hanson of Sauk Rapids. George was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dustin George Hanson; daughter, Tiffin Elizabeth Hanson; and brother, Ronald Hanson.
