Robert (Bob) Jon Doll
St. Cloud, MN
October 6, 1950 - September 20, 2013
Robert (Bob) Jon Doll, 62, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on September 20, 2013. Bob was born October 6, 1950 to John and Alice Doll in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He attended St. Cloud Technical High School and Brainerd Junior College before serving as a signalman in the U.S. Naval Reserves in Vietnam. As a result of his service he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with the Bronze Star.
Bob, together with his father, owned and operated Insulation Specialist's Inc. in St. Cloud for 25 years. Bob enjoyed life in "the north woods" near Hillman, Minnesota, where he and his wife, Lois resided. With a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors, he loved hunting and walleye fishing on Lake Mille Lacs. After Lois passed away in 1999, Bob moved to Florida. There, he enjoyed fishing the Intercoastal Waterway near his home. In recent years, Bob spent countless hours volunteering at the Brevard County Animal Shelter in Melbourne, Florida, and working on legislation to make it a "No Kill" shelter.
Preceded in death by beloved wife, Lois, and his father, John Doll. Survived by his mother, Alice Doll of Edina, MN; sisters Dianne Sikora (Peter) of Calgary, Canada; Ellen Doll (Jay Swanson) of Minneapolis, MN and Peggy Mesna (Greg) of Edina, MN. as well as his nieces and nephews Nicholas and Anthony John Sikora, Madeline and Isabella Swanson, and Martha, Jane and Peter Mesna. He will be missed by many devoted friends in Melbourne, and by Snoop, his faithful dog and constant companion. Special thanks to caring friends Roger, Dick, Mary Lou, Ed, Mike and Les.
A private family service is planned.
