Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Rice for Richard "Dick" Weinand, age 74, who passed away Wednesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Robert Trinklein will officiate and burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Rice and one hour prior to the services Wednesday also at the church in Rice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.
Richard "Dick" Weinand was born Dec. 23, 1938 in St. Cloud to George & Hildegard (Heim) Weinand. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Dick married Edris Anderson on Feb. 14, 1961 and they were later divorced. He worked as a machinist and shop foreman at Granite City Ironworks in St. Cloud. Dick was a life member of St. Cloud East Side VFW Post #4847. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, spending time outdoors, playing cards, especially crazy 8's and cribbage, spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed weekly family dinners. His family will remember him for his kind and loving demeanor.
Survivors include his daughters, Richael Weinand of Royalton and Laurel "Lori" (Brian) Catton of Holdingford; grandchildren, Erin Wunderlich of Puyallup, WA, Emily Wunderlich of Royalton, Eli Wunderlich of Collegeville, Nick, Logan, Bridget, and Brooke Catton all of Holdingford; sisters, Arlene Ketten of Pendleton, NY and Carol (Ken) Heinonen of Finlayson; and special friend, Rita Steiner of Rice. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Mary; and an infant brother, Melvin.
