Donald J. Meinz, 91

Saint Cloud

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids for Donald J. Meinz, age 91 of Saint Cloud, who passed away on Thursday. Rev. Paul Hennings will officiate and burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. Friends and relatives may call two hours prior to services on Monday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.

Donald John Meinz was born on September 4, 1922 in Rockville to Al and Anna (Theisen) Meinz. He was united in marriage to Georgia Pick on May 2, 1942. Don served his country in the Army during WWII and was a survivor of the Normandy Beach Invasion. He was a truck driver for 47 years, working for Wilson Trucking Co., Raymond Bros. Trucking and Twin City Freight. He later owned and operated Don Meinz Trucking. He was a member of the Saint Cloud East Side VFW Post #4847. Don enjoyed fishing, football and family.

Don is survived by his sons and daughters, Bruce (Nancy) of Sauk Rapids, Carroll (Janice) of Fresno, CA, Sandra Smith of Glen Carbon, IL, Johanna Theis of Clearwater, Michael (Marie) of St. Augusta, Mary (Bill) Wetch of Garrison, Rhonda (Mike) Lepinski of St. Augusta, Brian of Opole and Brad (Marcia) of Sartell; 36 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Georgia, on September 7, 1981; daughter, Sharon Heimenz; son, Shawn Patrick; 1 brother, 2 sisters; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army or Disabled American Veterans.
