Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Gregory I. Maleska, age 87, who died Tuesday at his home in Sauk Rapids. Rev. Virgil Helmin will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may visit from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday evening and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. 4th Degree Father Pierz Assembly will stand honor guard from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992 and Sauk Rapids Legion Post 254 will pray at 6:00 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.

Greg was born November 14, 1926 in St. Joseph to Frank & Rose (Mock) Maleska. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Greg married Beatrice Riedeman on September 30, 1952 in St. Cloud. The couple lived and farmed in the Gilman area for 38 years, moving to Sauk Rapids in 1992. Greg was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Father Pierz Assembly, Catholic Aide, Crosier Apostolate, Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992 and Sauk Rapids Legion Post 254. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and reading. Greg's faith was important to him and he was skilled in making rosaries. He was proud of his family, as they were very important to him. Greg was hardworking, honest and a fan of professional wrestling and of the Minnesota Twins.

Survivors include his children, Annette Maleska, Mary Lou Maleska and Gerry Maleska all of Sauk Rapids; Diane (Doug) Waldoch of Mound, Kevin (Janet) Maleska of Rice, Karen (Kevin) Gribble of Sauk Centre, Jim (Jackie) Maleska of St. Joseph; siblings, Agnes Mike of St. Paul, Frank (Dolores) of Melrose and Al (Marlene) of St. Joseph; sister in law, Christine Maleska of Avon; grandchildren, Amanda (John) Burgess, Jenny (Darren) Adamek, Adam, Kayla Gribble, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Jonathan and Michael; and great grandchild, Henry Adamek. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beatrice on Dec. 9, 2002; and siblings, Marie Helmin, John, Josephine Hollier and Theodore.

Memorials are preferred to the Poor Clare Monastery and the Franciscan Sisters.
