Nov. 21, 1938 ~ March 15, 2014

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Graham United Methodist Church for Sonny Knowles, 75, who passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Pastor Suzanne Maki will officiate and burial will be at Graham Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992 will pray at 6:30 p.m., followed by prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.

Sonny was born on November 21, 1938 to Emmertt and Mildred (Willard) Knowles in Hubbard County. On February 14, 1998 he married Joy (Dropps) Boser in Rice, Minnesota. Sonny is a 37 year resident of Rice formerly residing in Menahga. Sonny served our country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for numerous contractors, inspected both water and sewer, and was a logger in Menahga. Sonny is a member of 49ers International Union, Park Rapids American Legion and Sauk Rapids VFW post 6992. Sonny enjoyed restoring Farmall tractors, four wheeling, hunting, and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed BIG bonfires, BIG equipment and Miller Lite.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 16 years, Joy; children, Bobbie Jean (Jesse) Zamarripa of St. Paul, Melvin II, Patty (Scott) Warne, and Jody Anderson all of Park Rapids; siblings, Delores (Bob) Rumley, Darrell (Roxann), Dennis (Ethel), Shirley Brown, Wesley (Melanie), Russell (Vickie), Audrey Shephard, Marlene (Delmar) Winebrenner, Roxanne (Arthur) Scholz, Rodney (Tamara) , Cindy (Jim) , Tammy (Steve) Schroeder; brother- in- law, Bernard Wojcik; 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by parents; son, Steven; sisters, Donna, Faith, Carol Fix, Betty Wojcik; brothers in law, Darwin Shephard and Philip Fix; and granddaughter, Kiela.
