Leonard Moen Obituary

Leonard A. Moen, 65

St. Cloud

April 12, 1949 - July 20, 2014

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral home in St. Cloud for Leonard A. Moen, age 65, of St. Cloud who passed away at home on Sunday. Rev. Al Stangl will officiate and burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 23 at the funeral home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Leonard was born April 12, 1949 to Joseph and Gladys (Blatchford) Moen in Crookston. At the age of 4 his mother passed away and his father married Bernice Senske. Along with Joseph she cared for Leonard as her own.  Leonard was a Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War as an Aircraft Hydraulics man. He met Joanna (Josie) Hall on the Grand Forks Air Force Base; the couple was married on May 16, 1981 in Crookston, MN.   Leonard and Josie's military service took them far and wide from Blytheville Air Force Base, AR to Camp New Amsterdam, The Netherlands and to Carswell Air Force Base, TX. The couple later moved to St. Cloud. Leonard was a Charter Bus Driver for Voigts Bus for over 22 years. He often said "I don't know nothing, I just drive bus". Leonard enjoyed driving bus for the SCSU Hockey teams. He was a handyman that could fix anything.

Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Josie; sons, Tim of St. Cloud, Neil of St. Cloud; siblings, Ron (Clarine) of Lincoln, NE and Ellen (Terry) Nein of Edina. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, Gladys and Bernice.

On behalf of the Orchid Society of Minnesota, I just want to say that we loved Lenny dearly and our annual bus trip to the Chicagoland Orchid Festival just won't be the same without him. A shining light has dimmed in this world, but continues to shine ever brighter with the love, laughter, and camaraderie that epitomized the man in the heavens above. Drive ever on Lenny, knowing that you were well-loved and respected by this bunch of crazy orchid addicts who will miss you dearly!

Gone too soon. He was loved by family and friends and everyone was his friend. My brother. Rest now in the arms of God and the angels. There must be a angel bus with a new driver and all the angels are laughing and singing along with him.
