Dr. Jacqueline GRIFFIN Dr. Jacqueline Griffin passed away peacefully at her home in Shoreline early on the morning of Monday, April 30, 2012. Jacque was born Jacqueline Mary Lucas on June 21, 1925, in Berkeley, California. On February 15, 1947, she married Francis Griffin, her high school sweetheart, with whom she enjoyed a happy and fulfilling marriage until her husband's death in 1975. Jacque received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1948. She devoted the next twelve years of her life to her family, giving birth to one daughter and five sons, for whom she provided a rich, loving and encouraging environment that was in no way diminished by the tragic death of her oldest son in a swimming accident in 1957. Once her youngest son had entered school Jacque returned to the University of California, earning a doctorate in psychology in 1964. That same year she began a very productive career as a clinical psychologist at Napa State Hospital, where, among other achievements, she developed the first program in the country dedicated to the treatment of mental illness in deaf adolescents. Jacque retired to private practice in 1981, and to devote herself to the care of her extended family.A life-long resident of California, in 2003 she moved to Shoreline to be with her daughter. Jacque experienced great joy, and endured great sorrow, in the course of her life, but she never lost her serenity, her cheerfulness, her insight or her humor. She was a lover of music, of nature, and of poetry, and a ceaseless advocate for the disadvantaged. She is survived by her daughter Ann Macfarlane; her sons Michael, Thomas and Patrick Griffin; her nephews David Fiske and Martin Lucas; her nieces Andrea Kendrick and Paige Macmillan; and eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She will be profoundly missed. A service was held on May 4, 2012, in Shoreline. Interment will be this summer at Mission San Juan Bautista in California.
