Roy Moen Obituary

Roy I. Moen

Born July 9, 1917 in Heimdal, N.D, the 9th of 12 children. Died peacefully June 2, 2012 at Cristwood Nursing Center. In 1942 Roy came to Seattle and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in Borneo and New Guinea.

Roy married Signe Ness in 1948. They had 56 wonderful years together. Signe's death in 2004 left a void in Roy's life that was never filled.

A bus driver for Metro Transit for 33 years, Roy was a goodwill ambassador for the city. "Where else can you get paid for telling folks where to get off?" In the 1960's Roy became a celebrity in the eyes of his sons when he drove Seattle's Monorail. It almost made up for the lutefisk every Christmas.

Roy enjoyed his retirement years. He and Signe vacationed in southern California and cruised to Alaska and the Caribbean. They lavished attention on their grandsons. Roy took long walks daily. He came to love golf. It didn't love him back.

Roy and Signe were charter members of the Berean Bible Church in Shoreline where Roy taught Sunday School. His faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life.

Roy is survived by sons Marty (Kathy) and Jon (Carie); grandsons Jeff, Brad, Scott and Harry, all of Seattle; sister Florence Murbach of Lynnwood, brother Delbert Moen of Fargo, and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Berean Bible Church, 2345 N. 185th St., Shoreline WA, 98133. Remembrances to the charity of your choice.

Marty:
Remember great times pulling fast ones behind your dad's back in SS. He knew it but let us anyway. Great man of God. How's your golf game? I also remember bumping into you @ Jackson Golf Course eons ago as you were playing in a HS tourney.
A brother in Christ,
