Elaine Lueck

Elaine (Leckelt) Lueck passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, May 8, 2015, and joined her husband Donald G. Lueck in Heaven. She was born April 16, 1929, in Chicago, IL to Hugo Leckelt and Ruth C. Levy Leckelt and attended South Shore HS in Chicago and U. of Michigan. She was married to Donald, her college chemistry lab partner and the love of her life, on June 13, 1948.

In the early 1950s, the couple moved to Harper Woods, MI, where they raised their daughters and became involved in bowling, square dancing, civic affairs, PTA and church functions at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran in Grosse Pointe, MI. Elaine enjoyed volunteering with Girl Scouts Metro Detroit; League of Women Voters and as a Volunteer Probation Counselor where she did her best to positively influence young lives.

She and Don moved to Shoreline, WA in 1985 to enjoy their retirement years. Here she was affiliated with the Shoreline Lady Lions; NW Hospital Speech/Hearing Guild; League of Women Voters Seattle, WA; the former St. Stephen's Lutheran of Shoreline, WA; and the U of MI Club Seattle (Go Blue!).

Elaine greatly enjoyed both traveling worldwide with Don and family and welcoming people into her home. Passionate in her belief that society is strengthened through education, she encouraged/ supported both family and community through scholarships/support to Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma, WA and Mt. Peak Private School in Longmont, CO. Her generosity knew no bounds as she assisted her children and grandchildren with tuition and supported many charities. Elaine engaged in conversation with everyone she met and didn't hesitate to speak her mind about her deeply held convictions.

Elaine is survived by daughters Rosalyn (Roger) Lueck-Mammen of Tacoma, WA; Alison (Thomas) Buckett of Longmont, CO; David Lueck-Mammen of Redmond, WA; Dana Lueck-Mammen of SF, CA; Dianna (Matt) Hergott of Guatemala City; Joshua Buckett of Arvada, CO; and Andrea Buckett (Nick) of Denver, CO; and great-grandchildren Evan, Wesley, Grant and Ian.

According to her wishes, private commitment was held Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Her family will celebrate her life on June 13, 2015, the 67th anniversary of her marriage. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nat'l Jewish Health, 1400 Jackson St., Denver, CO 80206 or the charity of your choice.
