Jamie Stamper Obituary

Jamie Stamper

James Guinan Stamper died peacefully in his sleep on December 16, 2015 following a short illness. Born in Detroit, Michigan on June 8, 1953 to Malcolm and Mari Stamper, he grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and Shorewood, Wisconsin and moved to Seattle in 1962. He graduated from Shoreline High School, attended Seattle University and worked for Boeing in Seattle and Philadelphia and IBM in California. Jamie was a long-time resident of Los Angeles and Santa Monica. He was a music-lover, an artist, a sculptor and metal-smith and children's book author. He loved Harley Davidsons and was equally at home riding or disassembling them to be welded into pieces of art. Funny, creative and uncompromising, he is survived by his mother Mari Guinan Stamper, siblings Geoff (Mollie), Kevin (Kristine), David (Sue), Mary (Joe Lynam) and Anne, 14 nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Malcolm and brother Rory.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Thursday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that remembrances be made to a charity of choice.

My student at Shoreline, ever a challenge and delight - I could never give a good reason why a senior had to take English, but he never held it against me. Bless you, Jamie.

Dear Jamie , you were my 5th grade best friend and I never stopped admiring you. To live with your family in high school made me feel like part of your family . I will see you in heaven , thank you for the endless all night discussions as you gently rocked on the edge of your bed

Jamie was a most entertaining fellow. He possessed a very retentive mind and would happily chat on the phone with you any time on any subject. Being somewhat willful, and very enthusiastic you could count on him to pique your interest. His love for his family was boundless. Rest in peace dear Jamie.
