Henry Aydelott Obituary

Henry Robert Aydelott

Henry Aydelott died peacefully on January 19, 2016. He had fought courageously to overcome a major injury, his family constantly at his side.

The son of Ernest and Ruth Aydelott, Henry was born June 9, 1933 in Los Angeles. As a teenager, he moved with his family from San Marino, California to Bellevue where he graduated from Bellevue High School. Henry attended Whitman College, graduating with a degree in Business in 1955. While at Whitman, Henry became a member of Beta Theta Pi making cherished lifetime friends.

Following graduation Henry enlisted in the US Navy. His ship, the USS Prairie, was called to duty first in the Persian Gulf and then to ports around the world. To him this was an extremely enriching experience.

After discharge, Henry met Barbara Locknane, and they were married in 1958. Truly happy they looked after each other, their hearts knit together in love. Above all, Henry loved his family. To him, they were his greatest accomplishment, pride and joy.

As owner and partner of Arthur R. Hill Grain Merchandising Company, Henry could hardly wait to go to work every morning. He revered his business partner Art Hill almost like a second father.

Henry served as President of Pacific Northwest Grain Dealers Association and was a member of Seattle Rotary. He felt honored to lead a restoration of the Florence Henry Memorial Chapel in the mid 1970's.

Enamored with railroads since age two, he never heard a train whistle he didn't like. Henry was an excellent cook, his secret deviled eggs recipe was always requested and remains unmatched. A student of the Civil War, he took his grandchildren to visit Civil War battlefields.

Henry is survived by his wife Barbara; three children Julie (Rich) Schmidtke, John (Melissa) Aydelott, David (Jennifer) Aydelott; ten grandchildren Trevor, Jayne, Hunter and Stuart Schmidtke, Jack, Caroline, Elise, Josephine, Katie and Maggie Aydelott; and brother George Aydelott.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 15, 1:00 PM at City Calvary Chapel, 15211 15th Avenue NE, Shoreline, followed by a reception at Point Edwards Charter Club, 85 Pine St., Edmonds.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to City Calvary Chapel or a charity of your choice.

Dear Barbara, Julie, John & David and Family. I was so deeply saddened to hear of your Husband, Father, and Grandfather's passing. I thought you were so Blessed to have such wonderful parents. I can't imagine the tremendous sense of pain and loss that you each are dealing with.
I just recently heard about your husband, Father & Grandfather's passing about a week ago. I worked for both your parents helping to take cake of you, Julie, John & David. I worked as your Mother's weekend helper. Those have been some of the best memories of my life. Both of your parents were exceptionally kind and loving people. Unfortunately I lost track of your parents about 25 years ago. I would enjoy touching base with your Mom, as well as each of you. I'm enclosing my address, if you want to contact me, it's Patrick & Vickei Moore, 12010 26th St. N.E. Lake Stevens, Wa 98258. Again, I'm so sorry about your Father's passing, he was a very warm and very kind man. I can't imagine the heartache your experiencing at this time. It's with genuine affection & love that your entire family Blessed me with.
