Linda Fitzpatrick Obituary

Linda Kay (Leir) Fitzpatrick

Linda was born June 8, 1955 in Seattle and passed peacefully on March 31, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Nancy, and her brother, Mike. She is survived by her husband Scott, sons Adam (Melissa) and Joshua, sister Carolyn Smith (Clark), and many other relatives. Linda graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1973 and started working at the Insurance Company of North America where she met Scott. They married in 1976 and settled in Kirkland. They moved to Magnolia in 1979 with baby son, Adam, and lived in the same house for 34 years. Josh was born in 1983 and Linda settled down to raise her son, a full time job. Linda loved to travel with the family, her two favorite places being Disneyland and Long Beach, Washington. She had an uncanny knack of winning on the slot machines. She went out of her way to help anyone she could. A funeral service will be held at Butterworth Arthur A. Wright Chapel on Friday April 5th at 1:00 pm. Donations may be made to the Intensive Care Unit at Swedish Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Memories and Condolences

Not sure what to say?

I just simply wish to say how sorry I am to hear of your mom and wife's passing.
She was always without question, one of the most sweetest people ever on earth! She always had a genuine interest in others, a friendly and warm smile, and was always so positive and fun to be around. She was a person we all strive to be, but really never close to becoming. Your entire family will be in our thoughts and prayers - and Heaven is now filled with her eternal beauty and love.

I just learned of Linda's passing today, my apologies for missing her memorial. Linda and I were best friends in Jr. High and High School. We spent most of Jr. High passing notes back and forth, talking about boys, clothes, and how boring the class was. In case the teachers intercepted our notes we gave ourselves code names. She was Bubbles and I was 14 ounces - I'll let you guess why... it was a girl thing. We spent endless hours in the basement of her house, walking and later, driving around Magnolia and beyond, looking for friends, parties, or other things we could do. We had many adventures and got into some trouble together. I think Linda and I had our first beer together - it was Heidelberg. I was her maid of honor and we all wore bright yellow dresses.

When she first met Scott he was ready to marry her after their first date - but she needed a little more time. He was very enthusiastic, and I remember her calling me the next day, a bit concerned at his eagerness. Linda soon fell in love and truly loved Scott with all her heart. Later we drifted apart and I wasn't in her life as their children grew up...I'm sure they are wonderful people and I'm so sorry for them losing their mother so early in life.

The last time I saw Linda and Scott they were celebrating becoming empty-nesters. They were laughing and looked very happy together, on the way to their favorite chinese restaurant in Magnolia.

I don't know why Linda had to leave this world so soon. I'm so sorry for Scott, Carolyn, her children, and all who knew her.

I hope all will celebrate her life by sharing stories and memories of her, I know she would want everyone to do that. [email protected]

I'm now forced to realize that I've actually only met Aunt Linda a handful of times but she made a large impression on me. She was a lovely person with a beautiful soul who accepted me into her family with love and a glowing smile.

I have fond memories of Linda - she was my "little sister" when we had family get-togethers. We used to put on nativity plays for our parents at Christmas time & she would be Mary. I will truly miss her and my love and prayers go out to Scott and the family.

I will never forget the many nights at her and Scott's house playing poker until wee hours of the morning, she would always greet you with the kind of smile that would make you want to just sit down and have a nice conversation. She will truly be missed by all who knew her, she was a class act.

Our thoughts are with your family at this sad time. I really enjoyed my talks with Linda on the occasions that I saw her. Always, so nice and engaging and fun, just a sweet person who so loved her family.

I have fond childhood memories of swinging on the huge neighborhood rope swing with Linda and our friends. We built a cool fort in the nearby woods. We raced wagons in the alley that connected our homes. We walked often to Lawton elementary together. I most remember Linda's smile. The Harness family sends Linda's family prayers.
