Not sure what to say?

Elaine and I met in a Chicago USO in 1945 and were married before I left for overseas. We were together for another year while I was in school. For reasons not of our choosing we were separated. We met again several years ago and managed to spent the next years together until she fell ill. I will miss her.

I have had the honor of knowing Elaine for the past 30 years. She was a wonderful mother-in-law, grandmother and friend.
We moved Elaine to Portland, Oregon so that we could over see her care as her health diminished. I have had the privilege of managing her care for the past 4 years.

My favorite memories of Elaine were her visits to our farm. She loved to spend time with her grandson's, Justin and Carter. While she had become quite the city girl at an early age, her farm girl roots did not escaper her. She hopped on the tractor with the boys and spent time in the garden with me picking corn and various other veggies.

Her commitment to her health was so inspiring. Seeing her go through so many health challenges with a spirit of grace and the strength of a lion was truly admirable. I was always amazed at how such a little lady could have so much strength!

She was such a dear person to me and my family. We loved her very much and will miss her sweet, beautiful spirit.

I worked with Elaine at GHC Northgate Clinic in the early 70's. I certainly remember those days and reading about Elaine brought back many memories of all the staff. She was a gift to the nursing profession.

I have known Elaine for over 40 years. She introduced to my husband of 37 years, I shall always remember that.
We both enjoyed playing golf and bridge together.

We were student nurses together in Chicago during WWII.We both shared the same friendships and although we both travelled in different directions after graduation, we somehow ended up in Seattle. It gave us another opportunity to continue our friendship. I will miss her lovely smile, her humor, but most of all "Elaine."

In the early 70s I was lucky enough to be hired by Elaine when she was Nursing Manager at the Downtown Group Health Clinic in Seattle. It was a pleasure to work with her for many years and to call her a colleague. She was an excellent nurse and a wonderful person.

I am sorry to hear of Elaine's passing. While working with her for many years at Group Health she was a friend, teacher and mentor to me. She tried to help me keep my desk tidy - not sure she succeeded at that. Farwell dear friend. You were an inspiration to many nurses and a champion to all. Fondly, Pat Ackermsn, RN

I had the pleasure of working with Elaine for many years as a medical colleague and as her chief of staff. She was one of the best nurses I've ever known and one of the kindest too. Bright, helpful, hardworking, with her heart always in the right place. The world has lost an angel of mercy.
