Lois Lussier Obituary

Lois Mae Lussier

May 5, 1943 ~ October 21, 2012

Lois passed away much too soon surrounded by her husband Joseph, daughter Noelle Lussier and her little dog Freude. Lois Lussier (Gansemer) was born in Milwaukee Oregon to Leslie and Helen Gansemer. The family lived in Canby Oregon for most of her life prior to leaving to attend Marylhurst College in Oswego Oregon. While there she met, on a blind date, Joseph Lussier of Seattle. A year later they were married. After receiving her BS degree in Medical Technology from Marylhurst, Lois pursued a career in the medical field which included research in rheumatoid arthritis at The University of Washington School of Medicine, Scripps Hospital and Research Institute in La Jolla California and Georgetown University and Medical School in Bethesda Maryland. In 1988 Lois received a Masters in Public Administration degree from Seattle University. With this degree she changed careers and joined the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce. Her work included community relations, education and technology programs. In 16 years at the Chamber Lois rose to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. After retirement from the Chamber in 2004 Lois had a short position at the International Community Health Services. She finished her working career at the University of Washington continuing education department as Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Lois and her husband Joseph were fond of travel with many trips to Europe and Asia, including a last trip to Rome in May 2012. Those who knew Lois remember her fondly for her grace and style, her relentless pursuit in dealing with problems, whether personal or work-related, and, of course, her sly sense of humor. She could comfort someone who was hurting and bring smiles to her friends. Lois is survived by her beloved husband Joseph, her daughter Noelle Lussier of Hillsboro Oregon and her godchildren Ana and Tomas Wu.

A requiem mass will be held at St. Bridget's Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. on Friday October 26, 2012. St Bridget's is located at 4900 NE 50th Street in Seattle. The family requests no flowers and any donations should be made in her name to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
