Donald Zimmerman Obituary

Donald Clayton Zimmerman

Donald C. Zimmerman, age 81 died Nov. 1, 2012. He is survived by his wife and soul-mate, Dorothy, three children, Bruce of Richland, WA, Lynn (Jim) of Seattle, and Debra (Ron) of Whiteville, NC, and by granddaughters, Sarah and Laura and a brother Glenn (Doris), and many nieces and nephews.

He was born in Niagara, WI, graduated from Niagara High School, from Michigan State University, and received an MBA from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He was an officer in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 and in the reserves until 1963.

Don was employed by Joseph T. Ryerson. He held several positions including Vice President. After retirement, his primary home was in Sammamish, WA. There he was an active member of Sahalee Country Club, serving on the board as president. He also wintered in Green Valley, AZ. Don was an active member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church for 27 years.

Don was a gentleman with a great sense of humor. He was an avid golfer. He played over one hundred golf courses including the historic St. Andrews. He and Dorothy traveled extensively. He loved reading and playing bridge, enjoyed the fine arts and was a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan. He loved animals and raised three collies. His family was most important to him and he loved being a part of his granddaughters' lives. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves a large hole in all our hearts.

Donations may be made to a local animal shelter.
