Albert (Bill) W. Poirier

After a long illness, Bill Poirier died peacefully on September 6, 2013, at the age of 83.

Born in Boston, MA, moved to Seattle and joined the U.S. Navy. Attended Seattle Univ. and graduated Univ. of Washington. Taught at Bellevue H.S. for 28 years, where he also built the student radio station, KASB, which continues to be on the air. Hosted (as "Snoopy") the "Swing Years" on KUOW for 11 years. During retirement, Bill continued pursuing his passion for learning, especially through reading and the Internet.

Survived by his wife of 34 years, Melissa; daughters Suzanne (Gidlof) O'Byrne (Steve) and Rozanne Tibbs (John); sons Mark Poirier (Tina) and David Poirier; stepsons Jeffrey Warner and Brian Warner; grandchildren Austin Gidlof (Rachel), Brad Tibbs (Ruth), Bryan Tibbs (Katt), Dianne Tibbs (Jeff), Chelsey Poirier and D.J. Poirier; sister Trudy Poirier; many cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends. Predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Eunice and Lionel St. Clair; sisters Yvonne Berman and Rita McKenna.
