Benjamin Alfred McCracken

Man of Honor & Faith. We were blessed to have you as Husband, Father, Friend and Mentor. Born March 25, 1932 Bellingham, WA. Died January 16, 2013 Kirkland, WA. Last flight plan filed, destination Heaven. Raised in Bellingham, WA for 12 years. He moved to Seattle where he learned to fly off Lake Union at age 15. Graduate of Queen Anne H.S. Attended Pacific Lutheran College where he met Annie Lou Romtvedt the love of his life. They were married February 20, 1954 and shared 59 wonderful years full of adventures traveling the world, square dancing, skiing, flying in his Cessna seaplane and were blessed with many loving friends and relatives. He was especially proud of his kids Benny (Ellen), Gail (Gene) and Carol (Joe). As an Air Force Veteran he was very proud of his grandsons Adam & Luke who are Marines and Michael who is Air Force. He was equally proud of his other grandkids accomplishments; Jenae, Kimberly, Anna and Britt. Great grandkids; Elijah, Sarai, and Hunter. Dad was 80 years young and his current project was rebuilding his 1948 Luscombe plane which he planned to fly this spring. He lived the Boy Scout motto of "be prepared" and shared his love of hiking with many others through his years as scoutmaster of Troop 570. Generosity was valued as he and Mom opened their home and hearts to many. Sue (Roger) and John (Sharon) joined our family when they moved in and became like a son and daughter to Mom & Dad. Retired from Boeing, after 34 years as a Model Maker. He was Mr. Fix It. There was nothing that he could not build or repair.

Services to be held at Holy Spirit Lutheran in Kirkland, WA on January 26, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers send remembrances to Bothell First Lutheran or Holy Spirit Lutheran or Mission Aviation.
