Charlotte June (Lind) Fletcher

Charlotte June Fletcher, 97, passed away peacefully in Seattle on July 11, 2013. Charlotte was born in Seattle, Washington on June 14, 1916. Charlotte graduated from Ballard High School and the University of Washington School of Nursing. She was a member and past president of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. She worked as a registered nurse at Harborview Hospital, in Doctors Wes and Don McElroy's Magnolia medical office, and taught nursing and served as Assistant Dean at the Touro Infirmary School of Nursing, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She also cared for her parents Minnie and Archie Lind, and her grandmother-in-law Ellen Hoyt for many years. Charlotte was a long-time cancer survivor.

She met William Fletcher while at Ballard High School. They were married on June 15, 1940, in Seattle. Bill preceded her in death on April 12, 2008. They resided on Magnolia for 58 years before moving to Bayview Retirement Community on Queen Anne. They were long-time members of the Magnolia Presbyterian Church. Charlotte will be remembered by all for her love of God, her expert seamstress work and her baked pies and cakes.

She is survived by their children Jeane Lind (David Berger) of Ashland, Oregon and Herbert Fletcher (Christine Kernick-Fletcher) of Kihei, Maui, Hawaii; grandchildren Matthew Fletcher, Betsy Jeffrey, step-grandchildren Erin Tuckerman, Tim Berger, Charley Warner, Alana Kaiser-Warner and Kenyon Hayes; and many great-grandchildren, nephews, family remaining in Sweden, and friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Bayview Retirement community for their loving care to Charlotte over the years.

A grave side service celebrating Charlotte's life was held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Seattle on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
