David Braun

David Braun, longtime resident of Vashon Island, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2013 at Vashon Community Care.

Dave was born in Mohall, North Dakota on November 9, 1918. He was employed as a pilot by United Airlines for 30 years. Upon retirement, he kept busy with many projects, including the building of two Vashon condominium complexes, and filled his time with hobbies such as restoring antique cars and raising animals on his beloved farm property on the island. Dave lived a full life. A wonderful father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, he was a man of endless talents and infinite knowledge, and he always had a story to tell.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Christine Braun; son, Davey; and his eight siblings. Survived by his wife, Joan, of 50 years; his children and their spouses: sons Ronald (Vi) of Puyallup; Lance, of Ketchikan, AK; Dean (Julie) of Medina; daughter Shauna Barlow (Eric) of Bellevue; nephew Floyd Braun of Vashon; as well as other nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He is greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family will hold a private memorial. Dave's family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Vashon Community Care for their skill, kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vashon Community Care in Dave's name. Sign Dave's on-line Guest Book at www.Legacy.com.
