Captain Don N. Johnson USNR (Ret.)
Don N. Johnson, 82, died peacefully at home November 8, 2012. Don was born in Los Angeles, CA and moved to Seattle at age 5. Don graduated from Lincoln High School and graduated from University of Washington
1951 Magna Cum Laude. After graduation, Don went to Officer Candidate School. Don served 4 years in Alaska, 28 years in Navy Reserve retiring as rank of Captain. Don went to work for Boeing, being one of the first software engineers retired in 1993 after 35 years. Don participated in many organization and activities. He enjoyed sharing the love of the outdoors with his children. Don enjoyed singing, was on the first team of Skandia dancers, jogging, hiking, biking and skied until his 79th birthday. In retirement Don helped with the major remodeling of his church, with over 1,000 hours volunteer time as a docent at the Museum of Flight, and enjoyed singing with the Sno-King Community Chorale. Don truly enjoyed being part of his loving granddaughter's activities and accomplishments. A loving Christian man who leaves behind his wife Melvylei, brother Bill (Irveta), sons Jeff (Carrie), Mark (Diann), Ross (Tamie) and daughter Cynthia, brother-in-law Ken (April), his four precious granddaughters Cassie Johnson, Lela O'Bryant, Jamie Johnson, and Allie Johnson. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 2:00pm at Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church, 17440 Brookside Blvd NE, Lake Forest Park, WA 98155. Remembrances may be made to American Red Cross or the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation.
