Donald Benton Beeson KY7X
Born in Seattle, January 15 1935; passed away in Yuma, AZ, Oct 21, 2012. Graduated from Roosevelt High School. Five years in the US Coast Guard. NASCAR pit crew leader, then NASCAR official. Senior Ford technician in Arlington, Marysville and Lynnwood. Quickly mastered earliest home computers, then kept at the leading edge of software and hardware, including helping Microsoft develop and test forthcoming software. Took UW course in Russian, then visited USSR with first US team of ham radio operators. Always generously shared his expertise with radios and computers. Volunteer camp host at Pacific Beach State Park. Retired as an RVing "snowbird," then became a Yuma resident where he created and ran a computer network serving more than a thousand mobile home park residents and enjoyed almost daily golf.
Predeceased by wife Jane after 48 year marriage. Survived by wife of 11 years Donna; brother John, sisters Jodee and Liz, children Donnie Jr. (My), Lorri, Nancy, Kevin (Suzy), Carolyn (Will), Margaret and Lisa; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
