Doris Marie Williams
Doris Marie (Forrester) Williams, age 76, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2012 at her home surrounded by family. She was born to Fronia (Prater) Forrester and George Forrester on January 14, 1936 in Damascus, VA. The family moved to Longview, WA when Doris was a young child. She graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1954. It was in Longview that Doris met the love of her life, Don Williams. After they married, Doris and Don relocated to the Seattle area where they raised three sons and 7 grandchildren.
Doris fiercely loved life and people, especially her family and friends. Doris and Don enjoyed traveling all over the country to visit them. Doris will forever be remembered as a kind and loving friend, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Her sense of humor and immense courage, especially in the face of ALS, were inspirational and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband Don, her sons, Steve (Val), Scott (Angie) and Kevin (Kelley), her brother John Forrester (Linda), and her grandchildren, Jimi, Kevin, Jr., Kelsey, Kyle, Amanda (Tyler), Erika and Megan.
A celebration of Doris's life will be held at the Mill Creek Community Church in Mill Creek, WA on January 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In addition, a service will be held in Longview at the First Christian Church on January 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in Doris's honor be given to the Evergreen Chapter of the ALS Association (webwa.alsa.org), or to Evergreen Hospice (evergreenhealth.com/hospice).

Doris was a lovely, kind person. I will forever remember growing up next door and seeing her sweet smile. I have one particularly fond memory of spending a sunny day next to her in her garden when I was about 7 or 8 years old. As I recall, the Williams family dog "Tuffy" was also lounging in the sun near by. Doris was teaching me about Daffodils and how to tie them up after they had bloomed. I have since then always thought of her in the Spring when I tie up the Daffodils in my yard, and will forever more. I was lucky enough to share that with her at a visit we had last year. My deepest sympathies to Don, Steve, Scott, Kevin, and their families. Hugs to all of you.

Kevin...your Mom's well-written and loving obituary serves all as a tribute to one of Lake Stickney's best Moms. I truly enjoyed her each time she walked into the office. A real lady with a fine family. xoxo "Mrs. Smith"
