Dorothy Ann Grandy Reinert
Dorothy Reinert was born April 14, 1930 and died September 13, 2013. Following surgery she had suffered a stroke. She is survived by four sons, Chris, Larry, Erik, and Ralph. A fifth son, Arne, died before her. Also her three sisters, Barbara Jean Cortright, Phyllis Lucile Dumas, and Ruth Ellen Brown plus a dear friend, Minnie Norwood and her daughter Mary, whom she helped to achieve a college degree and a teaching career.
Dorothy graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. from the University of Missouri and went on fellowship to graduate work at Yale where she earned three master's degrees in linguistics. Her special interests included the Slavic languages, Old Norse, and threatened languages of the Northwest Indians which she had a part in recording.
In addition to her scholarly pursuits, she worked for IBM in transformation of computer systems and Boeing, where she worked as a programmer.
Dorothy will be greatly missed. She was a generous donor to many in need and to numerous causes. The loss of her warm and loving spirit will leave family and friends with an empty space in our hearts.
