Gerard Alexander Yves Roch Andre

Gerard Alexander Yves Roch ANDRÉ Gerry was born on May 6, 1923 in the small town La Broquerie, Manitoba, Canada. His native tongue was French and had to learn English by immersion in kindergarten. He served in the Canadian Army from 1943 to 1946 then earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1951. In 1950, Gerry married Rita Therese Dionne. They moved to the U.S in 1953. Their only child, Patrick, was born in 1958. He accepted a job at Boeing in 1962, and worked as an engineer until 1969. He joined the US Post Office as a letter carrier, and then as a facilities analyst until his retirement in 1988. In 1990, he lost Rita to lung disease. Gerry was known for his frugality, yet had a generous spirit. He refused new clothing for himself, yet would gladly give to others. Gerry enjoyed gardening, hiking and walking, and especially his daily newspaper crossword puzzles. Gerry is survived by one brother, Gabriel; his son, Patrick; daughter-in-law, Therese; and granddaughter, Cherylin. He joins his wife and nine other brothers and sisters already with our Lord. Burial service is at Forest Lawn in West Seattle at 2:00 on March 19. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wellspring Family Services.
