Harold "Mac" Douglas MacDonald,

a Seattle area resident, passed away on June 24, 2014. He was 83. He was born on January 19, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Donald and Sophia MacDonald.

After graduating high school, Mac joined the Air Force and served four years during the Korean War. He then attended college in Michigan where he studied electronics. He reenlisted in the Air Force in 1957. He served during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. After serving his country for 20 years, he retired and worked for the federal government. He worked for the Community Services Administration and the USDA until his retirement in 1993.

When Mac was stationed at Torrejon AFB, Spain he met his wife Josefa and they married in 1961. They had one son, Alan. In the 1960s the family made Aurora, Colorado their home. Mac and Josefa lived there until 2005 when they moved to Seattle.

Mac had an easygoing nature and was a very kind person. He was always quick with a smile. Mac was a versatile athlete excelling in track, baseball and Golden Gloves boxing as a young man. He will be very missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Stewart and Ernest, and sister Edna.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Josefa MacDonald of Bellevue, WA; and his son Alan MacDonald (wife Jennifer) of Bellevue, WA.

There will be a private celebration of Mac's life held at a later date.
