Harry R. Yamada

Harry R. Yamada passed away peacefully on May 19. Harry was born Aug 24, 1929 in Kent, WA to Suzue & Masato Yamada. After the issuance of Executive Order 9066 in 1942, the family relocated to Vale, OR. Harry graduated as valedictorian from Vale HS and enrolled at the UW in Seattle where he met Dorothy Shirota. Harry was the Husky Basketball manager under Head Coach Tippy Dye and joined the ROTC. After graduating with a BA, Harry did postgraduate study. He and Dorothy married in 1952.

Harry served in the US Army in Korea as a quartermaster and was promoted to 1st Lt. He retired after 32 years with Boeing. Harry enjoyed playing basketball, golfing, armchair quarterbacking, playing bridge and eating Japanese food.

He is survived by his brothers John (Arlene) and Victor (Millie) and sister Sachi (Mas Sakoi), daughter Anne (Ray Bell), son Eric (Chrissy) and grandchildren Alex & Chris Bell and Katie, Emiko & Lexie Yamada. He will be greatly missed.
