Jane C. Ewing

Jane C. Ewing

Jane C. Ewing, 67, died on January 23, 2013 at her home in Bellevue. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Jane will be remembered for her quick wit, compassion, strength, and more than anything, her sense of humor. Her courageous battle with uterine cancer over the last year was an inspiration to many. Born Jane Davis in Brooklyn, NY, and raised by her widowed and working mother, Faye Davis, Jane rose from humble beginnings to have a successful career in fundraising for various non-profits in the Seattle area. For the past 10 years, Jane served as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement for Cornish College of the Arts.

Jane had a great passion for life which she shared with her loving husband of 45 years, J.J., which involved travel, music, theater, museums, reading, and fine food. Jane enjoyed spending time with her children (and their spouses), Jennifer (Florian) and Daniel (Anne) and relished her role as grandmother to her adorable grandsons Max and Jack.

Jane worked as a development professional for over 25 years for Wellspring Family Services, the University of Washington School of Public Health, and The Little School. She served on numerous non-profit boards and took great pride in her tenure as president of the board of the Northwest Development Directors Association (NDOA) and as president of the board of the Bellevue Schools Foundation. Jane was honored to receive the NDOA professional achievement award in June of 2012, preceding her retirement in July.

A memorial celebration of Jane's life will be held on February 17 at 3:00pm at the Golf Club at Newcastle, 15500 Six Penny Lane, Newcastle, WA 98059. Donations in Jane's memory can be made to the Jane Ewing Endowed Scholarship Fund at Cornish College of the Arts.
