Joan Middleton Blethen
Joan Middleton Blethen passed away in her home with her loved ones nearby, on November 27, 2012. She was born in Seattle March 24, 1933 to parents Frank A Blethen Sr. and Mildred McMahon Gardner. Joan graduated from Clover Park High School in Lakewood, WA in 1951 and from the University of California at Berkeley in 1971. A fierce advocate for human rights, Joan was employed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for more than 33 years as an investigator and mediator. She is survived by her loving husband, John Sinsheimer, her step brother, former Governor Booth Gardner and her step children; Jamil Harding, Pamela Wilson DDS, of New York, Debbie Cornland of Stockholm, Sweden, Glenn Wilson of Oakland, CA, and Leslie Sinsheimer and Stuart Sinsheimer. She is also survived by a step-grandson, Taj Wilson of Washington DC, associate counsel to President Barack Obama, and by her lifetime friend Stacia Cammarano (Mrs. Robert Cammarano) of Lakewood. Joan had many wonderful friends from Seattle to San Francisco and beyond. Funeral services were conducted at Temple Beth Am in Seattle, November 30th and she was interred at Abbey View Memorial Park in Brier, WA.
