Kimiye Higashi, 90, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2014 at her home in Tukwila, WA. She was born to Isaku and Maju Kuritsuka on Oct. 29, 1923, in Tacoma WA. Her family relocated to Japan when she was three, and Kimiye grew up in Kumamoto prefecture. Kimiye married Noritoshi Higashi, and the family moved to seattle in 1968. Kimiye will be remembered as a supportive and loving wife, mother and grandmother who contributed to the lives of many people in a very positive way.
Kimiye is survived by her son Tatsuya (Fumiko), daughter Yukie, and grandsons, Jerry and Nicholas. Kimiye was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, three brothers in Japan, and her sister Kazuye in Seattle.
Her service will be held at the Evergreen Washelli Chapel, 11111 Aurora Ave N. Seattle at 2:00 PM, March 8th. Refreshments to follow in the Celebration Hall. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Seattle Swedish Family Medical Center Geriatrics Deparatment and the Providence Hospice Team.
