Lois Elizabeth Blomberg
Lois Elizabeth Blomberg passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home on December 21, 2012, three days before her 91st birthday. Born to Harry and Elizabeth Chalmers on December 24, 1921 in San Francisco, California, she grew into a fun-loving and vivacious young lady with beautiful strawberry blonde hair. At 21, she caught the eye of a young college man, Walter Blomberg, from across the bay in Oakland, In September they became engaged, and on April 16, 1944, they married. Lois was blessed with a happy marriage that lasted for 66 years until her husband's death in 2010. After raising four children, they traveled the world visiting such exotic destinations as Lebanon, Turkey, Portugal and New Zealand. They attended plays in London and New York and weekends in Hawaii. Later they spent winters with wonderful friends in Lake Havasu playing golf and enjoying the warm weather. In 1974, they moved to the Meridian Valley community and joined the country club. Golf became their passion and Lois's competitive spirit emerged. She participated in many club events and tournaments. Not to be outdone by her husband, who hit one hole-in one, Lois made 3 during her playing days. Lois especially enjoyed the camaraderie of her friends, in particular those in the East Hill Meridian Guild. As a member of the Guild she helped organize and lead a number of fundraisers for the Seattle's Children's Hospital. Lois took great pride in her work with the Guild and continued until her health deteriorated during the last year. Lois is survived by her four children- Lynn Gould, Barbara Patchett, Nancy McDonald, and Walt Blomberg III, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed! Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Meridian Valley Country Club located at 24830 136th Ave. SE, Kent, WA.
