Lorraine Trosper, 90, passed away at home 12/28/12 from bile duct cancer. Born in Whitefish, Montana in 1922, Lorraine moved to Puget Sound as a young girl. She graduated from Bainbridge High School and attended a local business college, ultimately landing a secretarial job at Boeing. In later years she worked as an assistant librarian at Highland Junior High in Bellevue. She married Boeing engineer, Robert H. Walker in 1950 and had two daughters, Valerie and Andrea. In 1965 the family moved from Mercer Island to Kirkland to satisfy an equestrian habit. In 1978 Lorraine married local businessman, J. Wendell Trosper, and spent many happy years sailing to Alaska and otherwise exploring her beloved Northwest waterways and mountains. Lorraine was a strong advocate for her Bridle Trails neighborhood and wrote a neighborhood column in the Kirkland Courier. She was much loved for her engaging, spirited and generous persona and her willingness to take on all manner of community problems. She filled any extra time with tennis, hiking, skiing, horseback riding and sailing. She was an excellent and devoted mother and grandmother. Her passing leaves a huge void in the lives of those who knew her well.
A celebration of Lorraine's life is planned for April 7, 2013, 10:30a.m. at Bridle Trails State Park, 5300 116th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98033. For more information, to read the full obituary, and to offer online condolences, please vist www.sunsethillsfuneralhome.com
