Louis Martin Halko

Louis Martin HALKO After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Louis Martin Halko, 63, a 30-year Renton resident and retired fiberglass building and auto-detail instructor at the Highline Vocational School, passed away Feb. 11. A Tacoma native, his passions were home-remodeling projects big and small, gardening, travel, fishing and his dogs - Peaches, a rat terrier, and Goofy, a dachshund - along with a deep love of family. He also served in the Marines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles John and Mary Halko, of Tacoma, and his sister, Janice Strock. A very devoted husband and father, he will be greatly missed by his wife, Maryann; a daughter, Kimberly Denise Halko, of Renton; a son, Charles John Halko, of Renton; a brother, Michael (Cheri) Halko, of Seattle; a sister, Mary (Ranny) Green, of Tacoma; as well as several loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Piper Morley Mellinger Funeral Home, 5436 S. Puget sound Ave., Tacoma, followed by a Reception at the Tacoma Elks Lodge, 1965 S Union Ave., Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society of Seattle/King County, American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.
