Marjorie Akana

Marjorie AKANA Marjorie Akana passed away peacefully on September 23, 2011 at the age of 85 in Edmonds, WA following a brief, unexpected illness. Marjorie was born and raised in Honolulu, HI and gradu ated from Kamehameha School in 1944. She continued her educa tion in CA as a nursing student and then returned to HI as an inter-island tour guide. She met and married Russell Akana in 1949. Together, they raised 5 children happily and for 47 years resided in the state of WA. Marjorie was a talented cook and enjoyed gardening and travel with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell and is survived by her children: Ruslyn Adkisson (Michael) of Marysville; Beverly Akana-Forrest (Richard) of Lynnwood; Wayne Akana (Beverly) of Bothell; Diane Akana of Seattle; Jonelle Akana of Mercer Island; 10 grandchil dren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her loving nature and spirit will be deeply missed by family and friends. Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Parish in Lynnwood, WA on Saturday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m. followed by inurnment at Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills at 2:00pm. www.floralhillslynnwood.com.
