Mary Alice Thompson Grimes

May4, 1939 ~ October 20, 2012

Preceded in death by her parents Bill and Grace Thompson. Mary was born in Big Cabin, OK May 4, 1939. She and her parents moved to Moxee, WA in 1946 along with her four sisters, Leona, Betty, Patty, and Peggy. After high school, Mary worked at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Yakima, WA until moving to Seattle in 1963. She worked for Swedish Hospital in cancer care for 39 years. She thought Swedish was the greatest hospital in the world. Over the years at Swedish, many patients would give her gifts of thanks for her loving care. She had patients from France, Russia, India, and the Soviet Union. She treasured these gifts and the time she had with each patient. Her strength of character was amazing. She never gave up even when her illness became too much. She fought the good fight to the end. She didn't have a church here that she regularly attended so she gave her "tithes" to the Union Gospel Mission. She donated to many causes over the years. Cancer research and the homeless were ones she felt strongest about. Mary made a big impact on many people's lives and will be loved and missed forever. We love you, Al. Rest in our Lord.
