Maurice (Maury) Albert Olson
Maurice (Maury) Albert Olson was born January 9, 1926 in Seattle, WA and grew up in the Ballard area. He passed away at home at age 87 on July 31, 2013. He was the only child of Norwegian parents, Oscar and Myrtle Olson (Rod). He graduated from Ballard HS in 1944 and enlisted in the Army
Air Corps serving during World War II
. After the war ended, he helped his dad run the family commercial fishing boat named "Puget" in the Alaskan waters.
He loved to play the accordion and entertain folks with his Scandinavian polka music. He graduated from UW in 1954-proud Husky alumni. He had a 30 year career as Mgr of Cost Research for Boeing. Married for 52 years to the love of his life, Betty Jean, who passed away in 2010. He enjoyed traveling during his retirement years. His favorite past time was sitting in his chair, therefore nicknamed The King.
He is survived by his two daughters, Wendy O'Toole (Bill) and Jody Norton (Bryant) and was very proud of his 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Floral Hills on Sept 9, 2013 at 3PM, followed by a reception in celebration of his life.
