Merlin Hargrove Christman
Merlin Hargrove Christman "Chris" age 93 of Seattle, Washington went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2014.
Merlin was born to Elmer and Bertha Christman on June 30, 1920 in Montpelier, Idaho. He attended Panther Lake School and graduated at Renton High School in 1939. Merlin was drafted into the U.S. Army
in 1944 serving 2 years and was part of World War II
operations in the Pacific theater and the preparations for the invasion of Japan. After being honorably discharged due to the loss of a brother in combat, he then trained as a machinist for the Boeing Company serving with distinction and honor for 45 years. He was a 75-year member of the IAM 751 Machinists Union and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
and the American Legion. Upon retiring, Merlin volunteered at a local Senior Service Center and was a Minister of the Eucharist at St. Peter's Parish in Seattle.
Merlin enjoyed gardening, genealogy, sports, history and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings, his son David, his first wife Ruby of 54 years, and his second wife Zenaida of 14 years.
Merlin is survived by his brother Van and sister Veda, son George (Susan), daughter Carol (John),
granddaughters Stephanie (Jonathan), and Kimberly (Thomas). We give special thanks to his caregivers Rita, Emi, Filipina, and Curie.
Services were held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton.
