Michael C. Krohn

Michael C. Krohn, 61, unexpectedly passed away on 06/01/13, in Seattle, Wa. He was born in Seattle on 12/11/51 and lived most of his life in the Pacific Northwest. A graduate of the University of Washington, Michael was an outdoor enthusiast and self-taught photographer. His first book, "Photography for the Hiker and Backpacker" was published in 1979. He spent 30 years as an owner and operator of Ptarmigan Press, Inc, a small, family-owned print shop in Seattle. In recent years, he spent his days doing what he loved most - gardening and relaxing outside, maintaining his online photography & art galleries, discovering new music, and enjoying good wine with friends and family.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Krohn and Joyce Albert, and his brother, Kelly Christopher Krohn. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Jean Krohn; daughter and son-in-law Erin and Chad Hoover; son and daughter-in-law Eliot and Colleen Krohn; grandchildren Susanna, Sophia, Oliver, and Grant; stepmother Ruby Krohn; brothers Randy Krohn and Tim Apicella; sister Kimberlee Krohn Shaw; and many other beloved family members.
