Nordice P. Nicholson

Nordice P. Nicholson

Nordice P. Nicholson passed away peacefully on Dec. 21, 2012 in Gig Harbor, WA. She was 95.

Born in Rosalia, WA, she grew up in and around the Portland area, graduating from Grant High School.

Nordice and her husband Nick lived in Kirkland for many years. Her passion for numbers fueled the success of her bookkeeping business, Fairlake Business Services, and she continued to work into her 80's. She was active in the Kirkland Woman's Club serving as treasurer for many years. In 2000, she retired to Foundation House in Federal Way, WA. She immediately became engaged in all the social activities, worked in the Resident store, and was a founding member of the Foundation House of Faith, an interdenominational church holding Sunday services at the retirement home. When she left, the congregation had grown from the 4 original members to 60. She was so proud! Nordice's hobby was to write letters and send cards, with cheerful and uplifting messages to those around her. In the last few years of her life, she created her own cards from parts and pieces of others, bringing smiles to all those who received them.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, R.E. "Nick" Nicholson. She is survived by her son Douglas Hurlburt of Idaho, her daughter Susan Barrett and son-in-law Rick Meeder of Federal Way, her sister Lucille Krebs of Kennewick, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
