R. Sid Pederson
R. Sid Pederson, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 7, 2012, in Seattle, WA. He had lived with the effects of a stroke suffered in 2003.
Sid was born on February 17, 1941 in Bellingham, WA, to Ralph and Violet (Peterson) Pederson and spent his childhood in the fields of his grandmother's farm in Hobart, WA and behind the soda fountain of Pederson's Variety Store on Greenwood Ave., where his family lived in back.
Sid graduated from Lincoln High School and then Seattle Pacific University, where he was a celebrated baseball player.
He was a beloved elementary school teacher
in San Jose, CA in the 1970s, and with his first wife Karen (Johnson) traveled around the world three times and raised two children. With his family, Sid returned home to Seattle in 1980 to pursue a real estate career at George Johnson Realtors in Ballard. He worked as a broker and sales manager, and kept things lively at the office for more than twenty years. Through his business he met his wife, Nancy, in 1997, and together they loved working on real estate projects around the city and making yearly trips to the Napa Valley.
Sid had a true passion for life. He loved people and made friends wherever he went. His gregarious spirit and joyful, infectious laugh remained throughout his illness, and will be deeply missed.
Sid is survived by his wife Nancy (Chermak), his brother Bob (Melody), his daughter Keri (Coren Lindfield), his son Ryan (April Wilkinson), his granddaughter Mara, and Nancy's daughter Dana.
A celebration of Sid's life will be held at an open house at the home of Sid and Nancy on November 17th from 1 - 4 PM.
