Randall A. Diefendorf

Randall A. Diefendorf of Burien, Washington died July 14, 2013. He was born in Syracuse, New York on October 24, 1918, the son of Adelbert and May (Frame) Diefendorf. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ruth (Jensen) and brother, John Stuart and his wife Lillian. He leaves a son, David and daughter-in-law Glenna, daughter Barbara Schneeman, six grandchildren, five great-children and nine nieces and nephews. Randy was a Gunnery Officer on a small freighter leased by the Army during WWII. He was a design engineer at Boeing where he retired after almost 30 years of service. His great avocations were Rhododendrons and genealogy. Randy and Ruth loved their time tending to their many species of Rhododendrons at their home on Whidbey Island. He spent countless hours tracking family members and re-counting how the first Diefendorf arrived in America in 1734. We all learned so many newly discovered facts about our family history because of his passion for family history including that our ancestors served in the Revolution. His lasting and wonderful caricatures on letters and birthday cards will remind us always of his unique sense of humor. The family suggests donations to the in his name, and they thank you for your heartfelt love, prayers and support.

A Memorial Service at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, Burien, Washington will be August 3 at 2:00 PM. Randy will be buried at the Brigham City Cemetery in Utah, beside his beloved wife "Ruthie May" on August 10 at 11:00 AM.
