Robert Walter Nelson

Robert "Bob" Walter Nelson, 72, passed peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2012 surrounded by his family after a brief struggle with cancer.

Bob was born on July 7th, 1940 to Harold & Ruth Nelson in Rockford, IL. He served in the Army National Guard in Alaska and in Chicago during the riots in the 1960's. Bob had a keen grasp of the tech industry and was instrumental in developing medical databases that are still used today. Later in his career, he was awarded a degree in computer science from Pacific Lutheran University. He worked in CA, WA, and Las Vegas until he retired and moved to Seattle to be closer to his daughter, Alex.

Bob will be remembered for his never-ending dry humor, incredible intellect, and warm heart. His fondness for Jeopardy, Crosswords and Scrabble will be carried on by his daughter with love.

Bob is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Alexandra & Patrick Sweeney, his older brother William, and several close nephews: Ty, Chris & Aaron. He will be dearly missed by his many friends and family.

A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will take place at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church on Saturday December 1 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, Bob asked that donations be made to the Swedish Hospital NICU in his memory.
