Sam was born August 21st, 1936 in Ainsworth, Nebraska to Samuel Sr. and Nora. His family moved west to Washington when Sam was an infant. He eventually would call West Seattle his home. His parents, sister Lola Flolo Grant and brother Jack preceded him in death.

After more than 30 years Sam retired from Bank of America as a Vice President of the Trust Department. He went on to work for Safeco Trust Co., BNY Mellon and his current employer D.A. Davidson. He loved his work and the people he encountered along the way.

He also loved to travel the world with his family; most recently visiting Canada, Hawaii and Mexico. South Africa was next on his bucket list.

Sam is survived by Sallie Thiessen and their daughters, Amy Thiessen Martin (Mark) and Melyssa Thiessen Schug (Damian). His 6 year old twin granddaughters Samantha Rae and MacKenzie Marie Schug were the loves of his life. He will be greatly missed especially for his wicked sense of humor, great sense of fun and love of all things family.
