Sieg Kiemle, 82, of Seattle, WA, passed away peacefully March 1, 2013. He was born July 28, 1930 in Cincinnati, OH; Graduated Proviso E. HS in Chicago, Ill. 1948; Attended Iowa State College (Forestry); Transferred to the University of Washington and graduated from the School of Fisheries 1953; worked as a marine biologist for the State Fisheries Dept. through 1959; in 1959 he completed requirements to become a high school science teacher, and was assigned his first position at Garfield High School; he received the biology teacher of the year award for the state of Washington in 1966; In 1967 he attended OSU in Corvallis, OR and received his MS in Science Education; in 1971 he was asked to teach at Ingraham High School where he taught until his retirement in 1989; He was a distance coach for track and cross country at both schools; In 1980 he started working on his AA degree from Edmonds CC in ornamental horticulture, which led to interning at Molbak's, and later starting his own business, SK Nursery on Whidbey Island. In his retirement he also became active as an educational cruise ship biologist, Seattle Tree and Fruit Society, the Poggie Club (small salt water fish); lobbying for fish in Olympia, enjoying his large garden at home, and writing and publishing his memoirs. He was an active member of Plymouth UCC Church for 57 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; Son Fritz (Heidi); Twin daughters, Elizabeth (Jeff) Thoreson; Anne Kiemle(Kael Sherrard); and 8 grandchildren. He leaves a sister, Janet Martin (Jim); and sister-in-law, Isabelle French. Services will be held at Horizon House, 900 University Street, Seattle, at 2:00 PM, March 16th.
