Stuart Creighton, 70, longtime resident of Normandy Park, passed away unexpectedly in his home on January 8, 2014. He was born in West Seattle on August 7, 1943 to Jim and Thelma Creighton.
Stu graduated from Chief Sealth in 1961 where he excelled in football, playing as all city guard. He served in the Army
from 1967-1969. He worked at Boeing for over 30 years, until he retired in 2002.
Stu met his wife Rita (Trask) at Boeing, and they were wed in July of 1979. They settled into Normandy Park in 1982 where they lived until 2012. He was active in the community that he loved, serving on the city council for many years, and one term as Mayor. He continuously worked to make the city better for the people who lived there.
Even though he carried a full plate, he always made time for his friends and family. He is preceded in death by his wife in 2008, and leaves behind his son Jeff Creighton of Reno, NV, and his daughter Courtney (Scott) Chaffee of Browns Point, WA, as well as his brother Jamie (Diane) Creighton of Seattle, and many nieces and nephews.
Stuart and Rita were a good team who knew how to make a difference. The greatest gift we can give to them is to live fully in their place. A celebration of Stu's life will be held at The Cove in Normandy Park on February 10th from 4 - 7 p.m. We invite all that knew Stu to come and be thankful for him.
