Teresa Strecker, 85, a longtime resident of Seattle, passed away on July 9, 2013 at her home from cancer. She was born on February 21, 1928 in Yakima, Washington, the daughter of Dr Frederick and Cecilia Beauchene. She graduated from Lone Mountain/University of San Francisco. Teresa was united in marriage to Vincent Strecker in 1958 in Seattle, Washington. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years in 2000.
Teresa was an avid student of history and culture. As a world traveler to over 100 countries, she visited many diverse, remote regions, from Timbuktu to Tibet, where she collected art, antiques and ancient beads. Over the years she was involved with Our Lady of Fatima parish, the Women's University Club, the Sunset Club and numerous other art, literary and travel organizations. Especially dear to Teresa's heart was her long time membership in the Literary & Travel Club and the Irene Hanley Circle (Assoc. of Catholic Childhood). She cherished the long, enduring friendships she made in these groups.
Teresa is survived by her children and their spouses; Stephen (& Teresa) Strecker, Plano, TX, Joan (& Robert Adolph) Strecker, Bellevue, WA, Cecilia Gainer, San Antonio, TX, her grandchildren (James, Olivia and Edward) and her sister, Margaret Mary (& Bud) Coppers, Yakima, WA. Also, many loving nieces, nephews and cousins in the extended Pemberton family, the Makins/Coppers family, the Strecker family and the Gentry/Hines families.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday July 27, 2013, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 3218 W Barrett Street, Seattle, Washington. The family will greet friends and relatives in a celebration of Teresa's life, following the funeral, from 2:30 - 4:30 at Palisade Restaurant, 2601 W Marina Place in (Magnolia) Seattle.
