Vincent Mitchell of Tacoma passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Franciscan Hospice House in University Place, WA. Vince was born May 31, 1930 in Seattle, WA to Bryce and Elinora (Smith) Mitchell.
He was raised in Seattle and graduated from Garfield High School in 1948.
On July 30, 1960 Vince married Raynine Hoyt in Seattle; she survives him at the family home.
After graduating from high school Vince worked for Northern Pacific Railroad and was a tool maker at Boeing for more than 10 years. Vince started his own company V & M General Contracting in 1972 and retired in 1995. In 1991 he was nominated SBA Small Business Contractor of the Year.
Vince enjoyed cooking, traveling, building almost anything and spending time with his family and friends. He and his wife were also Foster Care parents.
In addition to his loving wife Raynine he is also survived by sons, Vincent Jr. (Rose) of Seattle and Tracy Mitchell of Auburn, WA; daughters, Sandra (Ron) McGowan of Seattle; Elaine (Andrea) Mitchell of Champaign, IL; Eleanor Mitchell of Seattle; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents; his son Paul Mitchell; brothers, Bryce Jr. and Edward Mitchell; sisters, Maxine Mitchell, Pauline Houston, Elizabeth James, Marie Bernice Mitchell and Neddi Lucille Valentino.
A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 17th at Wynooche Cemetery in Montesano, WA. There will be a memorial service in Seattle in July.
