Virginia Christopher, 88, born in Ellensburg, WA, passed peacefully in Seattle surrounded by her family.

Virginia loved children and while raising her own, taught preschool from her home. She was an avid tennis player and hit a hard tennis ball into her 80s. Later in life, she obtained her Certificate of Chemical Dependency from Seattle University. She was passionate about helping people in recovery and was honored as Counselor of the Year in Washington State at age 71.

Virginia and her husband Chris are active members of St. Peter's Episcopal Parish.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Phillip Christopher; her daughters, Jodene Scaylea Hawkins, Annette Scaglia, Jill Chrisman, Michele Scaglia; her husband's daughter, Donna Christopher, and son, David Christopher. Family members include seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Parish on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM, reception following. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be designated to Children and Youth Ministry or the Altar Guild at St. Peter's Episcopal Parish, 1610 S. King Street, Seattle, WA 98144.

Virginia's family is grateful for the compassionate care provided at the end of her life by staff at Anderson Plaza, Group Health Hospice and Dr. Carol McCandless.
