Virginia M. Knowles
Passed away Monday, April 15th, 2013, in Seattle, one month shy of her 92nd birthday. She is survived by her three sons, Jeffer, Grady, Clayton and two grandchildren, Darcy and Aaron.
Virginia was a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, WA. She earned a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Washington
and did graduate work at the University of Chicago.
She was married to the love of her life, Clayton T Knowles, who died in 1980.
In her life, she did too many cool things to list but included: sailing around the British Virgin Islands, ran an alternative school for pregnant teens, hitchhiked across the country, rode a motorcycle, drove a school bus, tutored ESL and special needs kids, built a greenhouse out of recycled building materials, gardened in a local pea patch, provided refuge for dozens of stray cats. She enjoyed traveling, square dancing, flying kites, dumpster diving, pottery, painting, writing, and made one hell of a chocolate chip cookie.
We will miss her.
