Wesley Mason Brock, M.D.

Born November 27, 1921 in Bremerton, WA., passed peacefully on September 25, 2013 at home on Camano Island, age 91. After Bremerton High School, he graduated from the University of Washington, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1942. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1945, and came home to Seattle for internship/residency at the Doctor's Hospital on "Pill Hill." He then served in the U.S. Navy, Lt. (jg) Medical Corp as a naval physician. In 1949 he returned to Penn for anesthesia training, again coming home to Seattle in 1951 to practice anesthesia in south Seattle, at Burien General and Riverton Hospital. In 1970 he retired from clinical practice to join the Wa. State Dept. of Social and Health Services in the Division of Medical Assistance, until he retired in 1991.

In addition to medicine, he enjoyed a full life, filled with hobbies including achieving eagle scout rank as a teenager, concert violin, tennis, duplicate and contract bridge, photography, white water kayaking, rafting, and beachcombing.

Wes was preceded in death by his first wife Olive, in 1986. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his children Steve (Cynthia), Brigit, Carmen (Mike), & Mason, his stepchildren, Stephanie (Rob) and Lee, and grandchildren Jordan, Analiese, Rowin, Mike Jr. and all of the grand dogs.

At his request he was cremated, and his ashes interred in the family plot at Lakeview Cemetery in Seattle. There will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, October 27th in Seattle.
